There is no such thing as the best ammo type. However, I have found that rapid N2 lbg feels much better than in World and I have also heard that pierce has some good LBG options. Nargacuga is in the game, so that will be a solid pick. I've not tried sticky or ele gunning yet, but I plan on making sets for them to see how it feels in Rise.
If you want variety for your pierce gun there are choices between: Malzeno: 330 Raw, 400 slots, Rampage1, 0% affinity, has spread2, Average Reload. Shaggy: 310 Raw, 000 slots, rampage2, 35% affinity, poison/sleep1, sticky2, spread3, Average Reload. I'd advise having a decent charm before utilizing them. Daora lbg with full valstrax armour and normal 3 is pretty nice. 100 plus damage on head when valtrax dragon heart activates and with silkbind attack up buff. Even more if you have red health. Its pretty easy to play too since you dont have to switch ammo much. Use the daora soul ramp up skill too.
