Ithaca 37 short barrel.
I have an Ithaca 37 with the 7 round extended mag tube and would like to replace the remove the barrel and mag tube to clean them and replace the forend while I'm at it. I can loosen the end cap but the barrel/magazine tube clamp prevents the barrel from rotating. I don't see a way to get the clamp off short of prying it which I won't do.

Shortly after IAC took over in 1987, they discontinued the 2 3/4 guns and made all 3 inch guns. Eventually the "MAG" marking was dropped. Anything made pre WWII tends to be made with softer steel then modern guns. If the barrel was born as a modified choke, putting a 3 position adjustable on it would only utilize 2 of the 3 choke settings, modified and full, unless the barrel was shortened before the monstrosity was added. As it is now, the barrel length is 29½ inches, if we cut the choke off it'll be 23½ inches. That'll certainly make it easier to handle.
