I do think that in general, the pattern/red-border mechanism is flawed, in terms of predictability and drop rates. Bordering/extracting any weapon should award currency that can be used to buy more patterns, exotic ones could be expensive, but deterministic.

There are 3, one made specifically for each class. It's just random drop at end of the Wellspring activity. Needs to have drop rate roughly equal to 1/3 of the deepsight weapons ie you get exotic pattern around same time you would get the relevant legendary pattern. The Hunter exclusive glaive has the ability to shoot an arc lighting strike that tracks targets. This works roughly the same as Voltshot in PvE which boxes this glaive out in terms of viability.
