In draft mode the lift should only raise during the last two inches of travel on the control lever. You can move the quadrant backward or forward to adjust this.

I do know that the 9N/2N/8N all used the PTO to drive the hydraulic pump and that the 9N/2N only had draft control and 3 speed transmissions. With the 8N they added a 4th forward gear and position control. Rick, it sounds like your hydraulics are working normal, when in the draft position the hydraulics operate differantly, they are controled by the movement of the draft spring that is attatched from the hydraulic rocker to below your seat.

Where the cable hooks to the rock shaft there are is an about 1/4" diameter stainless shaft that the cable pushes about 3 inches into a stainless tube. It appears to have a full range of motion.
