Magus builds pathfinder 2e.

Spells: Horizon Thunder is a decent alternative to Shocking Grasp. It's more versatile (although spell attack w/o spellstrike is going to hurt) and the damage is less swingy, but you lose the persistent damage against metal wearing enemies (I'm assuming the +1 doesn't matter, since your using the spellstrike role).

A successful Cyclops build needs two things: leadership and lasers. [Ed Note: I know they aren't lasers]. After reading about each of the classes, I really like the Magus for the magical swordsman type of trope. The first game we are doing is only going to level 4.

It’s hard to say which type of dedication is better than the other. For instance i have a build for a Gnome Starlit Magus that uses a Halfling sling and becomes a personal mortar/trebuchet. Just a silly idea that optimizes pretty well. I could go down Fighter or Archer for Point-Blank Stance; since Starlit’s Arcane Cascade is practically trash.

Without the Magus, this might have been a TPK for us. Nobody else in the group had single target frost or water attacks. We can theory craft about the differences in the builds all day, but boy oh boy does Magus bring more tools and spike damage to the table. Could have an Eldritch Archer done comparable damage? Not at level 8.

STR Magus needs Sentinel for heavy armor and compensating Reflex saves (you need 10 DEX). There is no lot of reasons for Laughing Shadow to go for 2H weapon, because flat bonus from Cascade compensate difference between d8 and d12 weapon. 1.Outside of thief rogues, archer builds and druids, I can't see any reason to ever build dex in pf2e given how trivial it is to get heavy armor prof for bulwark. In this case, freeing up dex allows a magus to have ideal stats by investing in str/con/int/wis and further boosting by taking dex and cha flaws (usually for more con).Twisted tree Magus with monk archetype is one of my favorite characters I've played. You have to take so many feats to just get some spell slots that you end up being more sorcerer than you are champion. Aside from the role-play, it might be easier to multiclass into champion as a sorcerer. But that's just my two cents. 3.Best tank = Paladin divine shield ally Best AC in the game since heavy armor goes 1 AC above the others. Magus really is its own thing, with unique elements (bounded casting is really not standard at all), and a steeper learning curve than tacking a Cleric or Wizard archetype onto Rogue or Fighter.
