Your damage buff is based on the imprint percenrage. If you, for example imprint for 50%, you have a 50% of 30% total damage/reduction. So a 150 parent would become a 225 with a full tame and would be able to pass those onto future children those same stats on a 150 baby would get an imprint, sure, but no taming bonus.
