Recently i came across a wood furniture C308 that has really caught my interest. General thoughts? Ive heard a lot of really good things, and some bad things (especially from older models). As modern sporting rifles have become almost ubiquitous in the firearms world, many shooters have started to turn from their lighter 5.56mm NATO and 7.62x39mm weapons towards the heavier .308/7.62mm NATO semi-autos. The C308 is built off of a mishmash of Cetme and HK parts. Those parts are compatible, but need more fitment and finish to mesh properly. Fit and finish is something Century is notoriously poor at. The PTRs are built from the ground up off of surplussed HK G3 tooling, if I recall correctly, and it shows.take a brand new c308 and put a dinged up mismatch wood set on it with worn out dented hardware....or spend more and get brand new wood and hardware in the end its still a junk gun, but it looks nicer. All you need to do to use that G3 stock is get some ~100 grit sand paper and sand the little nylon washer on the recoil spring retainer so that it fits nicely in the cetme bolt. Use the entire G3 recoil assembly so that you don't have to mess around with moving the buffer hole. Dec 26, 2018 · Nice looking rifle. C308 Handguard replacement? I finally got my Century Arms C308 to the range last week and put about 60 rounds through it at 100 yards. I love the gun, it shoots great, handling and accuracy are awesome. Only thing I noticed which was a little disconcerting was that the handguard got pretty warm after about 10-20 rounds.
