One is for the crew, HD, and 6x6 and the other for the xp. It seems to me that if the stator was going bad or completely failed, you would have battery charge problems, as the stator (alternator) is what charges and maintains the charge of the battery along with the voltage regulator. You need to find another dealer. I just fixed an XP yesterday that (2) dealerships and $1000 later couldnt fix. THey put a new belt, new ECU, and new plugs and a dyno run and still couldnt fix it.
