The one from design space will never calibrate correctly. I've owned a cricut for over 2 years and the rules of calibration (explained in the guide but I can td;lr here) are: Use the calibration sheet from the help site. It is located at the bottom of the page. You can compare from the photos I showed how different they are.

Once the reboot is complete, power on the Explore machine and reconnect it to the computer, then try the cut again. If this does not help, proceed to 3.

You only calibrate for print then cut (print a design from your printer and then the cricut cuts around the printed image) or using the knife blade. You do not need to calibrate using basic cutting aka just cutting shapes out.
