Kotor twist.
KotOR has a really special place in my heart, but the story is very simple and predictable. That's perfectly okay, though. The films, afterall, were very similar, with blatant heroic vs. villainous actions. Even with an obvious twist, it handled it very well. You see a lot of games now like Fallout 4 where a twist occurs purely for shock value.

I beat Kotor for the first time today and the plot twist bent my mind. The only other time something like this happened was in Bioshock, but the difference in scale couldn't be more stark. In Bioshock you are playing as the henchman, in Kotor you *are* the big baddie. The amazing thing was how this revelation made me feel more powerful.

The ESB twist was known and didn't really add anything to the dynamic for me. All it did was just change Luke's resolution against the Empire vs what he initially thought for RotJ. In KOTOR playing directly as the PC, the twist had immediate weight and impact, changing the whole story as I knew it and impacting future conversations.
