Ram rotary shifter stuck in park.

Whenever it starts getting cold, the truck likes to stick in park. It will start, runs fine, just won't go into gear. ONCE it does, it shifts just fine. Usually if I leave it sit for about 10 minutes, with the heater going, it slips right in with no problem. It has been suggested that it's the shifter cable.So far, the only thing I’ve found that consistently works is to allow the shift knob to cool down and also gently rotate the knob back and forth.
