All Glock mags are made of polymer molded around a metal shell. This makes the walls thick. That thickness limits the factory 43x/48 mags to a single stack of ammo inside. An alternative might be the CR920 which is more like a 43 (no x) but comes with metal mags, one extended. I think that one is fairly new so I haven't seen reviews and I'm not sure about mag compatible.
