The RAV4 feels like it sits up a little higher and the Forester feels zippier, but the specs are pretty damn close. I chose the Forester after having one for a rental and he chose the RAV4 because he got a good deal through Costco. I’m particular about visibility and the Forester had a better view out the back window.

From 480 miles left in the tank to 63 miles left in the tank, I used an estimated 417 Miles worth of gas according to the system. Overall Thoughts? It was impressive that I was able to hit 41 and 43 MPG on each leg of the trip. Considering the RAV4 Hybrid has an estimated 38MPG highway, I'm glad I was able to surpass those estimates. The RAV4 interior is a lot more "basic" than the CR-V. It's well done and it looks decent, but it's far from the luxury look of the CR-V. It has more space inside, at least visually speaking, I didn't measure anything. The visibility is much better and the transmission is so, so much better than the Honda. You would get that VIN from the dealership. This is not for ordering. This is for tracking your RAV4 after one has been allocated to you and the dealership has a VIN number for that vehicle (note: not a temporary VIN number, but the actual VIN number for that vehicle). A base or mid-range model RAV4 is perfectly reasonable and competitive in the marketplace. You pay a premium for them used. Rav4 less than a 4Runner or, god forbid, Tacoma but it's a premium nonetheless. Their new prices are within the realm of reasonable. Nothing holds its value like a Toyota truck. Also, storage capacity looks limited by that sloping roof. Hope the styling reverts back to the previous, less boxy generation. The XLE Corolla Cross has way more features than the XLE Rav4. The cross XLE has LTA, SofTex, a sunroof, power lift gate, and a better console area.
