The reason for that is that because Icaru has a higher base defense, %defense is worth more on runes than %attack. In other words, you'd need more %attack on a rune to make up for the 100 attack you'd get from an artifact than you'd need %defense on a rune to make up for the flat defense on an artifact. Most of my runes I got from drops not crafting though. I didn't craft any determination runes but I instead crafted 300 fight runes, it was a huge grind but in the process I got improvements to several of my teams. Plenty of determination runes and high defense fight runes in the process :)

It is mathematically much harder to build Tricaru for early players if they try to slam Det runes (especially more than 1 set per dog). Guard runes are by far the easiest method to get the stats. There is an argument for using 1 Det set per dog as slot1 doesn’t have any real reqs, so you only need 1 more per dog. It's good but the ceiling for tricaru runes are so spicy I'm not sure. For reference you can have ATK or CD as a main stat alongside 9x fight runes. Not sure if anyone can do it though Reply More posts you may like.

Finished Tricaru DB12 with Lv1 Def tower! Building this team with Lv1 def tower was actually not that hard, but it definitely needs 2 Guard set on each Icaru if you don’t have determination runes. I looked through a few guides and built this team so it can attack 13 times before the dragon hits and 5 times after dragon hits before immunity ...Punishers Crypt Icaru 100%. I use Tricaru for DB12, NB12 and PC10 and I use the Tatu dot team for SF10 and GB12. Pretty nice only needing a handful of units for all dungeons and they have specialized runes so didn't even have to use useful runes for most of it. I am building a second Verde though since I don't like slow Verde in other areas of the game.
