I would have probably pressed the shift buttons too (P, N, D) etc. Then a couple of times, the video feed showed up a microsecond ..around 1/4 of the screen. I still was pressing buttons.
At least a backup camera is not an airbag (Takata airbag recall that Kia/Hyundai didn't have), or a seatbelt harness issue (Ford and GM come to mind).
