Then I kept jamming on my brother's factory ultra mag. I would seriously check different mags if you can borrow some, just to rule that out.

It's a bobtail Ultra, 3" bbl, full-size grip. Sort of a snub-nose 1911. The rest of the Kimber Ultra line has the 3" barrel, but with the 'Officer' grip, reduced by one round (and about 1/2" of butt length) and is factory spec'd at 6+1. But most who carry an Ultra use 7-round mags for 7+1.
