r/Terraria • Yo-yos in Terraria are an incredibly neat subclass in theory, but fall short in my opinion. There are not enough unique yo-yos in Terraria. Currently, there are 2 yo-yos that do something special, the Hive-Five and the Terrarian. I came up with a couple more.

I explain a cheese to the old ones army. You can use actuators to remove the 5 blocks at both edges of the arena, and have a second platform for them to land on, I usually have mine 7-10 blocks below, all enemies except for flying enemies will not be able to attack the crystal if you build the upper platform of solid blocks.
Couple nimbus rods just next to the portal on one side more or less entirely handles that side until later rounds. Daedalus raining just off screen on the other side similarly handles everything until later rounds and you can spend most of the event standing still on a platform in the middle. Chlorophyte shotbow has a similar effect to the ...I only use it for Old One's Army, because I have other arenas for bosses and events. There are restrictions in place for Old One's Army that aren't applicable to other events, so this arena was pretty much optimized around those restrictions. The arena I use for frost/pumpkin moon and martian/goblin/pirate invasions has a LOT more traps.
Old ones army arena ideas? Would like to get some ideas from people that would tell me how i can make the arena less flat and still keep them from "ghosting" into blocks or the sky (plus i would like to know how many blocks exactly between the gem and portals). Before facing the event, making a completely flat arena works very well. If an enemy's path to the Eternia Crystal is blocked, it will phase through obstacles, so trying to stop their progress with blocks won't be very effective. Building the floor with Asphalt Blocks will greatly increase movement speed.
